The Centre for Fine Art Research at Cardiff School of Art and Design consolidates the research activity of staff members who share an interest in the discipline of Fine Art.

These include practitioners and theorists from a range of areas, including painting, sculpture, printmaking, new media, performance, art history, aesthetics, philosophy, and art-science integration.

The members of CFAR are artists and writers with international reputations in their fields. Brief profiles can be found here.

CFAR performs a dual-function, offering peer-review and advice on the development of research projects and proposals and allocating funds for research within the Fine Art Department at CSAD.

CFAR also supports a number of research projects and postgraduate degree programmes, including MPhil and PhD in a range of Fine Art-related topics. Further inquiries about joining our research degree programme can be obtained by contacting our Director of Graduate Studies, Dr Clive Cazeaux (ccazeaux@uwic.ac.uk).

CFAR is a member of the WIRAD, the Wales Institute for Research in Art and Design, which integrates research activity in the sector across the region.

CSAD staff can access agendas, minutes, constitution documents and more through the CFAR Sharepoint site
