Award win for Interior Architecture graduate

BA Interior Architecture

For the second year running, a degree student on the Interior Architecture BA Hons course at UWIC’s Cardiff School of Art and Design, has scooped the Form Z Joint Study award for CAD in Interior Design. The student is Rebecca Pitt who graduated in June 2009.

Rebecca was invited to receive her award at a ceremony which took place at the ACADIA conference in Chicago in October.

Moving Letters

Following her ‘First Class’ degree award and a ‘Commendation’ for her dissertation, Rebecca is currently working for top London exhibition and museum practice, Casson Mann.

In contrast to the current pessimistic and destructive mood within Royal Mail, Rebecca elected for her final self-choice design project to celebrate the Post Office by curating and designing an exhibition of the Post Office’s history and achievement.

Set in one of the existing but unused Brunel railway sheds at Swindon, the project has great conceptual sophistication, is beautifully rendered, and would be a joy for visitors to behold. Let’s hope the Royal Mail management is listening.

“ This is the second year in a row that Cardiff’s Interior Architecture programme has won this international prestigious award”, said Programme Director Patrick Hannay. “ What is so gratifying about this particular award is that the Jury clearly are seeing the very high quality of design achieved by our stunts as well as their ability to visualize it through sophisticated software”. “Both surface and content are of a very high quality.”
