Graduate awarded top prize

BA Interior Architecture

Francesca Loam, a current graduate of Interior Architecture, has just been awarded the top prize, yet again, in the ‘Gleeds’ Spatial Design category.

The Judges were delighted with her “creative and sympathetic re-use of an existing building ( the Habitat building on the Hayes in Cardiff) to produce a viable and realistic mixed-use facility. She has made an interesting use of inter-related spaces to create a logical route to the ultimate destination”.

Programme Director Patrick Hannay commented, “ This prize for Francesca simply confirms what is generally recognised throughout the UK interiors industry, namely that the Cardiff Interior Architecture graduates, for more than a decade now, have produced a standard of consistent excellence, led by their 3rd year staff team of Michael Cameron, Paul Harries and Craig Thomas. Following last year’s win by graduate Alexander Strakhov, Francesca’s win this year confirms a legacy of quality BA education that is evident across the whole cohort of twenty students who are showing alongside Francesca at New Designers.”
